VIBE Magazine Closes

U.S. popular music magazine Vibe, which focused on hip-hip and R&B, is closing immediately, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.

Vibe's demise leaves only one print magazine covering the musical genres, The Source, The New York Times reported.

Magazine spokeswoman Tracy Nguyen told the Times the staff was to be formally notified Tuesday afternoon, adding it was unknown how many people would lose their jobs as a result. Read more here.

One of the most memorable Vibe covers is probably Toni Braxton's 1997 cover where she appeared "nude." Although Braxton went on the Oprah Winfrey show and refuted that she appeared nude, instead she insisted that her "nude bra and panty" were digitally erased. Either way, Toni Braxton's cover is one of the hottest magazine covers in history! A pregnant Toni Braxton also appeared on the cover in 2002 in support of her album More Than A Woman.

Real Housewives of New Jersey Fires Up!

Tonight Bravo aired the season finale of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and it was definitely must see TV. The eruption that happened in this episode had been brewing up the whole season. The girls end up almost in a huge catfight because Danielle decides to bring the infamous book to a dinner lovely dinner that Teresa had planned. Voices are raised, tables thrown and friendships tested, if you missed this episode you totally have to make sure to catch it!

SDW: I think that Danielle was wrong to bring the book and confront the ladies at this lovely dinner that Teresa had planned. We all know she has a problem with Dina, so I think she should have come to Dina privately and talked about what had happened, instead of being very rude and bringing this up at the dinner and causing a scene. Make sure to catch the reunion special next week on BRAVO at 9/8c where I'm sure it will get heated again.

I'm BACK!

So for no particular reason, I have been absent from my blog for awhile... but now I'm back! Let me catch you up on what's been going on with me for the last two months. (Brace yourselves) I had my portfolio show, it went well. I graduated, amazing. I became unemployed, lame. The job search is long and annoying, of course. I managed to secure some freelance work, sweet. Memorial Day passed, now it's hot. Twitter brings me much pleasure, follow me! www.twitter.com/slickrich85 . I have lots of free time, I've lost some weight. I saw Lady GaGa in concert for a second time, got a cameo on a video with her. Kylie Minogue announced her first US tour, going to see her October 12th.

So I think that is a pretty good in a wrap what happened to me in the last two months, nothing too fancy. Well I hope you guys enjoyed that and keep looking here for more updates to come!

Jesse McCartney Rings Up Toni Braxton

Beyoncé isn’t the only one to put a ring on it. Singer-songwriter Jesse McCartney exclusively tells Rap-Up.com about a similar ring-themed track he wrote for Toni Braxton’s new album.

“I did a record for Toni Braxton called ‘My Ring’s Too Heavy,’” says the soon-to-be 22-year-old pop star, whose album Departure: Recharged hits stores today. “Three weeks later, Beyoncé came out with a record called ‘Single Ladies’ and it sort of has a hand and a ring theme behind it.”

The song was recorded for the “Dancing with the Stars” alum’s sixth studio album, due out on Atlantic Records. “No offense to Beyoncé, I think Toni’s is a little bit better in my opinion, but we’ll have to see what the charts do.”

Meanwhile, the “Bleeding Love” songwriter has plans to hit the studio with “American Idol” Jordin Sparks for her sophomore album.

Lady GaGa Show

So though a bit late, I am back with my review. Last night I went to the Lady GaGa show and it was absolutely amazing! Went with my friend Joe and we met up with some other boys, we all just had the greatest time. When we got there the first band was just finishing up, Cinema Bizarre was ok, but nothing too spectacular. Next came on Chester French, they rocked the house! I really enjoyed their performance and the crowd was also loving it. After Chester came out The White Tie Affair, I feel they were not received as well as they could of been, for the pure fact that everybody was ready for the GaGa. They did a great job at covering some popular songs, like Kanye's Heartless, also the lead singer was great eye candy. Ok after three bands, Lady GaGa finally came out at 10:05pm, the who show was just such an adrenaline rush! We couldn't stop dancing, her outfits were amazing, and she has an amazing butt. The back-up dancers were cute, and the set was beautiful. After GaGa left the stage she came back for an encore, she did "Boys, Boys, Boys" and "Pokerface" I was so happy we got to see the show, and the House of Blues is a huge improvement of Avalon. All in all a wonderful night!

So I am mighty excited for tonight, I get to see the one and only Lady GaGa! Also as an added bonus I get to see the guys of Chester French, should be a great night. This is going to be my first time going to the House of Blues so I will have to see how I like this establishment, I'm thinking I'll like it. Now the most important part of tonight is finding the right outfit to wear! Hmm, this may take a few hrs, see you guys later with a review of the show.
